Back to Boomerang

I asked Jim Smiley to send me the story about the first ever claim of the the Boomerang Trophy. Sweet and short as always. Thank you Jim. - PF.

I remember the occasion well. Ben Greene won the regionals at New Castle. He was given the boomerang as the winners trophy.  To be fair as he is always, he placed it at Strawberry hill (gliding site near Winston Salem). At the first opportunity, a couple of days later, I flew to Strawberry hill to lay claim.

Ben Greene arrived the next day to learn the bad news. They trailored back to Chester and on the following day set out for South Boston.

The rest is history.
